Worthy Women | Session I | Jessica

Female Empowerment Covington LA Mandeville LA NOLA Birth Photographer

This will be my ongoing work to honor and lift up other women.  All Women. Our bodies are amazing.  They can grow and birth children.  They can bear the weight of pain beyond measure.  They can kiss booboos and light up a room for their little ones with only a smile.  They can be up all night caring for another and rush out the door for work the next day.  They can put their dreams on the back burner to help others thrive.

Women are are worthy.  They are worthy of love.  They are worthy of joy.  They are worthy to have a voice.

Meet Jessica...

I've known Jessica for a very long time.  We grew up together in the same area...  small suburbs surrounding Baton Rouge, LA.  Our families went to the same church.  I was a few years older than Jess, but I always remember thinking she was the cutest little thing.  She always has giant eyes and a bright smile.

Now, once I was married and moved away, I didn't make much effort to keep connection back home.  It wasn't intentional, mind you, but it happened.  I kept up with most people via social media and such.  That was it.

Then, one day Jessica and I stumbled onto each other again.  Jessica, now a wife and mother to two children, is an esthetician.  I remember watching her go through school for her dream. Granted, it was online, but I stalked a little.  She had recently changed jobs from more spa esthetics to dermatology esthetics.  She was looking for someone to "practice on".  You better believe I answered that!

When I saw Jessica that day, it was almost as if meeting her for the first time.  There we were, two adult women... no children running around us... we could actually talk.  She was charming and kind.  She was HILARIOUS.  She was wise.  She was caring.  She was wonderful at her job.  She obviously loves her husband.  She loves her children.  She loves Jesus.  I could tell all of this within a few minutes of connecting that day.

Over the last several weeks I've had more opportunities to communicate with Jessica.  Here is what I would have her know about herself:

Jess,

You are one in a million.  I mean that honestly.  You light up a room wherever you go.  You are grounded.  You are kind.  You have a sense of humor that could charm the most stubborn of people.  You enjoy life.  You enjoy it so wonderfully.  I know we all think we are never good enough, but I certainly hope you know that you are.  Your faith shines from within you.  You love Christ fervently.  That makes you more than enough; 10 times over.  Your husband is blessed to have you.  Your children will learn soon enough how much you give to them every day.  You put so much attention to detail in your makeup and clothing.  Some people probably don't notice or even like that, but from one fashion-and-makeup-lover to another, I certainly do.  I know it is just another way for you to express your creativity, and you're crazy talented with it.  I can tell how much loyalty you give to your tribe.  That is a rare find these days.

Thank you for caring so much for others and doing it so freely.  Thank you for looking up and giving of your heart to those that need it.  Thank you for staying true to your faith even when it hurts.

I hope this is a reminder that you are a gem, Jess.  You truly are.

With deepest love,

Erika
