This will be my ongoing work to honor and lift up other women. All Women. Our bodies are amazing. They can grow and birth children. They can bear the weight of pain beyond measure. They can kiss booboos and light up a room for their little ones with only a smile. They can be up all night caring for another and rush out the door for work the next day. They can put their dreams on the back burner to help others thrive.
Women are are worthy. They are worthy of love. They are worthy of joy. They are worthy to have a voice.
I've known Natalie for a few years. I met her when I was pregnant with our youngest child. We were both going to try for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). I connected with her instantly. She is so warm and lively. She's a complete ray of sunshine. In fact, I've never seen her be anything but full of joy and life. Even when things are tough, she radiates a joyful spirit. It's truly one of the most incredible traits of anyone I've ever seen.
Her positivity served us well on our session day. It rained and rained and thundered unapologetically that day. It looked the saddest of the sad, but you'd never know it looking at these images. I'd love to say that was by my hand, but it wasn't. It was by Natalie's.
... But let me share about who she really is...
Natalie is one of the most intelligent people that I know. She is bright and quick. She's passionate about science and animals. She's conducted research in labs and studied at university and in Eastern Medicine practices to help and heal animals. She's wise with her discernment for health. In fact, I've called and texted her on several occasions to simply get her opinion and educated reasoning on things. She's a smart cookie. In addition to her helping animals, she also runs and owns an amazing wellness business founded on elderberry syrup (you can find more info HERE).
She's also one of the most selfless, empathetic, and giving women I've met. She gives her all, all of herself, to love people. Sure, that is firstly to her husband, two children, and family...
... But I want you to fully understand. Natalie gives her all to everyone. I've seen her work countless hours for a nonprofit. I've seen her answer calls of family, friends, and acquaintances to give her support and direction for sick or hurt animals. She's even given me an ear as our family pet was passing. She listened to me cry. She hurt along with me. I've seen her offer her heart to a child... my child... when things were hard. She serves. She cares. She does so with humility and and so much grace.
You are a complete ray of sunshine. I know that can seem almost cliche, but friend, it is true. The very moment that I met you, I knew I'd found someone truly special and genuine. Your outgoing personality is so laid back and fun, but you can seamlessly give scientific data and statistics without a blink. You give of your time and resources to not only your family but to your community. You shower blessings on others. You meet people where they are... sometimes that's physically with an elderberry delivery but it's also in a ministry sense. You love on people no matter where you are or where you're going. You live in the present and give freely to everyone in your path.
What would I want you to know about yourself? Natalie, I hope you know that you are the most genuine person I think I've met. Your heart is transparent. Your heart is good. You love purely and recklessly give hope in the most beautiful way. You touch more lives... furry and human... than you'll ever know. You are a fun-loving, patient mama to your babies. You're a caring spouse to your husband. Your heart SHINES for the Lord, friend.
I know tough times will come and go. I know that happiness will ebb and flow. We all know that no one is sunshine and rainbows all the time. You, friend, despite whatever circumstances, are the silver lining. You love when it is tough. You give when you have none. You hope for those that feel hopeless.
That is beauty. That is true beauty in a brilliantly full way.
With deepest adoration,
